Celt/Briton Army Arrayed

As threatened earlier, here's a group photo of the Celtic/Briton army to date. Mostly Warlord Games and Victrix plastic figures; two metal chariots are from Renegade. I may add few other figures/small units later - possibly druid/fanatics, hunters and villagers; but for now, pretty much done.

I'll likely take a break from Ancients and work on either the Pike & Shot or Fallschirmjager boxes which were picked up from the closing sale a few weeks ago.
I'm a bit intrigued with Pike & Shot as I have virtually no knowledge of the period. Until the next post, wishing you all the very best!

    1. Thanks for the kind words. As for rules, probably Hail Caesar. Although I have played WAB and Lion Rampant for Ancients and Medievals in the past. Warm regards, Dean

    2. I also like this rules. Much more than WAB, though I played in WAB before.

    3. I like the overall mechanics of WAB, probably the single most thing I disliked about WAB was the individual casualty removal. Although I understand how it does affect frontage and combat, etc.

  7. Great looking Celt army! ECW or 30 years war, still the pike and shot rulebook isn't a bad start,as I know you love plastic, the warlord battalia box is pretty good value and you can pick it up a bit cheaper online plus they often have special offers/sales.

  10. Nice Dean, my vote is for Fallschirmjager if that means anything;) Honestly seeing paint on either of the two very different periods will be a treat.

    1. Thanks for the vote, Kevin. I had wanted to paint up FJ's as Ramcke Brigade but realized it wasn't the figures in Tropical attire. I actually just ordered the Warlord Games ECW Battalia set off of ebay. Kindest regards, Dean

    1. Thanks, Matt. I went ahead an "pulled the matchlock" on ECW. Read the Pike and Shot book yesterday - well, actually skimmed the rules (as I'm familiar with Black Powder and Hail Caesar), and read the section on the ECW - also watched "Cromwell" with Richard Harris - for inspiration. Kindest regards, Dean

  18. What a fabulous Celt army Dean - just wonderful. Superb painting and basing and if you haven't tried it I'd recommend Infamy Infamy (Two Fat Lardies rules system) - brilliant skirmish rules - the Ancients version of TFL's Chain of Command (the best WWII rules bar none).
