Warlord Games Late Hanoverian Infantry - WIP

Just a quick update for the blog. Managed to block paint and Minwax stain this 24-figure set of Warlord Games Late Hanoverian Infantry.
They're painted up as Field-Battalion Verden with green facings. They also have the coolest flag in the set.
Prior to the stain with just a block paint job.
As with the French Legere stet, besides the one-piece metal command figures, the plastic rank and file only need backpacks and heads glued on.

Thanks for stopping by and best to your gaming and painting endeavors!

Warlord Games French Legere - Completed

Here's a large, 36-man, battalion of French Legere.
Very nice figures, both the plastics and metal command. They fit in well with both Victrix and Perry.
Command with carabiniers and voltigeur elites.
Chasseur line companies.
In line.
The plastic figures only had head/shako and backpacks as separate parts.
A plastic sprue of 5 British line infantry also came with the set, but I plan to start on a box of Warlord Late Hanoverian Infantry instead.
So much for now; thanks for dropping by and best wishes on your hobby endeavors!

Warlord Games French Legere - WIP +1

After the block painting they've been given a stain of Minwax Tudor Satin. The stain tends to pool at the bottom edge of some of the greatcoats and was removed by lightly dabbing the area with thinner.
How they looked block painted prior to the stain. The command group are metals; the rest are plastics which only need the head/shako and backpack glued on.
They'll be given highlights after drying and sprayed with Testors Dullcote. So much for now - thanks again for dropping by, and wishing you all happy painting and good gaming!

Warlord Games French Legere - WIP

Here are the last figures from the La Haye Sainte set - 36 French Legere consisting of 30 plastic and 6 metal command figures. Started the block-painting - flesh; brown for hair, musket stocks, backpacks and bayonet scabbards; and white for straps, etc.
These are really nice figures and the plastics have minimal parts - heads/shakos and backbacks only needed to be glued onto the main marching body pose. The metals are all on piece castings.
And how they looked prior to the black base-coating.
Just a quick update. Thanks for stopping by and wishing you all happy painting and good gaming!

Warlord Games French Engineers

Finished the French engineers led by Lieutenant Vieux that came with the La Haye Sainte set.
They only need 3's to hit the main gate, instead of 5's for regular infantry. The gate's saving throw when hit by engineers is reduced from 2+ to 4+. This according to the rules that came with the Warlord set.
They're based 2-figs per Litko 40mm squares.
The KGL Light Infantry previous completed are also based the same way. I may end up re-basing Major Baring - the plastic round was the only thing available at the time. He's the overall commander at the farm house.
And...I went ahead and re-based the skirmishers which will be used in the scenario the same way. For some, like the Voltigeurs and British Rifles, it was their fourth re-basing. I only managed to slightly puncture a thumb during the re-basing process.
The British Light Infantry will represent the KGL Light Company from the 5th KGL Line; the 95th Rifles will occupy the sandpit; and the 5/60th Rifles will help flesh out the farm area - possibly representing the Luneburgers.

The last items from the La Haye Sainte set are 36 French Light Infantry - all in greatcoats and marching poses. I may work on the Perry Nassau troops first though. Or, possibly a box of Warlord Games Hanoverians which I picked up from ebay. In any case, thanks for stopping by and wishing you all happy painting and good gaming!

Warlord Games KGL Light Infantry - Painted, But Not Based

I thought I had a bunch of 40mm squares which I was intending to base these figures 2-per. However, what I thought were 40mm squares were actually 50mm squares. Oh well, gonna have to place another Litko order. Anyway, figured I'd take some pictures of them along with the completed pond and also the carts and furniture that came with the set.
I may have to base the prone figures separately - and somehow allow them to be placed on the rooftops.
These figures paint up quite nicely - particularly with the fairly simple, yet elegant uniform. The are armed with a mixture of Baker Rifles and standard muskets.
Next up are the French Engineers/Pioneers that also came with the set. Thanks again for stopping by and wishing you all happy painting and good gaming!

Warlord Games KGL Light Infantry - WIP

Along with a lone plastic Perry Rifleman, here are the KGL Light Infantry that came with the La Haye Sainte set, stained with a coat of brought-back-to-life-with-thinner Minwax Tudor Satin.
The lid of the can, which is less than a year old, appeared to be tight,so I was surprised to find it so thickened/hardened. I had to use a screw driver to punch through the dried top layer of the stain before adding thinner to it.
The figures prior to the stain with a basic, block paint job. I plan to base them two-figures per 40mm squares; mainly because they're skirmishers, and also because I have a few Litko 40mm square bases.

Anyway, just wanted to post an update, and thanks for stopping by and wishing you all happy painting and good gaming.
