Paymaster Ancient Hawaiians

These are the figures I bought at Enfilade yesterday. They went together without much difficulty. I used a little bit of Tamiya epoxy putty (similar to Green Stuff, but much cheaper) and super glue to attach the arms, bodies, and heads.
As you can see from the picture below, the king sizes well with Eureka. However, the warriors are slighter overall than the more muscular Eureka figures. Also, the gourd helmets should be a little bigger and rounder; then again, it matches the slighter sculpts, I suppose.
The most disappointing figure is the one I had wanted most by seeing it on the website. The noble with a separate base with a two-pronged spear. It is way too small! It looks like 20mm or so. I couldn't really tell the size discrepancy yesterday because of the figure being in multiple parts. I suppose he could be a menehune.
I also clipped the slot tabs to fit onto 25mm fender washers; using the remaing bit of the slot tab to fit into the washers' center hole. Again, using epoxy putty and super glue to secure the figure to the washer.
Well, I did want to give Paymaster a try. The multi-part assembly didn't bother me as much as the size difference. Anyway, these are my next painting project. Until next time, thanks for stopping by, and wishing you all the best.

Enfilade 2026 - Final Post

I failed to take any pictures from Saturday night's games as I was too tired to attend the period. I ended up falling asleep in my room and got up, and went down when most of the games were already closed down. I did make it for our annual Northwest Historical Miniature Gaming Society (NHMGS) meeting on Sunday morning. Having preregistered for it, I also played in Kevin Smyth's (A Gamer's Tale blog) Cuban Rebelliion game using The Men Who Would Be Kings. He also modified the rules for the Spanish to have torches and attempt to burn down sugar cane fields and huts. I ran four units of Cuban irregular cavalry. I spread them out along two edges of the table, and was moving around activating them during our turn. The Spanish ended up burning down enough of the cane fields to make a successful retreat off the table. Altough, at the end of the 8 turn game, I still had a half unit of my cavalry blocking the table edge of the retreat road. The Spanish would've easily finished me off in the next turn, as they were pretty much still at full strength. Not to mention we had older firearms with limited ammunition against their modern rifles with longer ranges and unlimited ammunition.

Cubans are in white clothing, while the Spanish are in light blue.
Although there were many great deals at the Bring and Buy, as well as with the many vendors, including a Warlord Games rep with tons of stuff, I ended up only buying a sample box of Paymaster Ancient Hawaiians.
Others had warn me about the multi-part metal figures, but wanted to give them a try anyway. Besides the one Noble who has its own base, the rest are sculpted for slotted bases. Marc Mann, the own and designer for the figures, said they're supposed to match up with Eureka Hawaiians. I'll post comparisons once they're put together and painted.
Pictured above is a portion of the Warlord Games vendor area. Outside of the photo on the left were many Bolt Action sets, and out of the picture on the right were Pike & Shotte, Black Powder, Hail Caeser and other game sets. I think they came up from the San Francisco area. This was the first time they attended Enfilade, and think they'll be back next year. I should also mention there was a Bolt Action tournament going on in another area upstairs from the main room. I failed to take pictures there too.

Next are photos from various other games in the the last period on Sunday.

So ended another nice Enfilade convention. All in all, it was great to see old friends, meet new ones, and also a bit sad to hear the passing of a few friends and acquintances since last year. I guess I'm one of the regulars now, having attended my first Enfilade in 2006 - 20 years except for the year we were shut in. I think Enfilade first started in the 1990's, and a lot of folks have come and gone since them. Anyway, looking forward to next year and plan to start on those Paymaster figures. Thanks for stopping in, and wishing you all the best!

Enfilade 2026 Saturday Morning & Afternoon Games

Ran my other two One Hour Skirmish games today. This time it was a Peninsula scenario, again with six players each game. All the games went well, with the players all saying they loved the rules. Most had never played them before. Here are a few pictures from the my games, as well as the other games going on. There were quite a few impressive ones, including a Sack of Troy  game.

Some other games.

Well, I'm a bit too burnt out for Saturday night, and will chill out tonight and maybe swing by th3 hotel bar. I'm signed up for a game tomorrow morning run by Kevin Smyth (A Gamer's Tale blog). At the moment, I can't recall the game, but I'll post pictures of the game.
