Worked on these fine Warlord Games resin and metal kits today; an FT-17 and a British Mark IV. Check out all of the nicely detailed rivets.
With a couple of 28mm Wargames Atlantic figures for size comparison. That FT-17 must've been a tight fit for the two-man crew.Great sculpting and clean casting on both of these. Just a few metal parts that went together without issues. The FT's turret and the Mark IV's guns can rotate.Comparison shot with with a Panzer 38(t) in 1/48th scale.Very few parts, and they went together very well. As they came without instructions, I had to refer to pics on the Warlord Games website to make sure how they went together - also the line drawing of the FT-17 below for the rear skid plate assembly.I plan to paint up the Mark IV as a German captured tank like the one below.
So ... new year and a new army?
ReplyDeleteA small project; to go with the Wargames Atlantic infantry. Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteI do like this kind of tanks...Promising!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Phil. I'm sure it has something to do with all those rivets :) Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteWOOOA! Looking great. Love that first tanks. Fantastic start in the new year.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Michal. Looking forward to slapping some paint on them. Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteLovely looking pair of tanks, I have had the same problem with warlord kits although you can normally work out where the bits go. I have tried to stick with warlord as the 1/48 will look large in comparison. Ok on the battlefield though as long as they keep apart.👍
ReplyDeleteThanks, Matt. Most of my WW2 tanks are 1:50-1:48, but I couldn't find any WW1 tanks in those scales. Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteLooking forward to what you'll do with these.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nick. Plan to paint both up in camouflage. Warm regards, Dean
DeleteGreat looking tanks Dean! It's a well timed post as I was looking at those on the store and wondered if the tanks would fit in with the Mark IV that I had bought from North Star (and are now no longer on the store website). Now I have seen the parts, I think it might well be exactly the same model. This is good as I now know that I can get the A7V and the FT-17 and they will all be the same scale! :-)
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Jason
Sounds good, Jason. In fact, I looked at Brigade Games' tanks, but decided on Warlord as I didn't see top rails on the Brigade Games' Mark IV. Also, the rivets on these are awesome. Best regards, Dean
DeleteNice WIP, Dean!
ReplyDeleteYour WW1 project is on the way!
Thank you, Dmitry. Looking forward to the release of the Wargames Atlantic WW1 French too. Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteTwo great looking models Dean. I have an Old Glory FT 17 and I agree, it seems tiny when individual figures are placed next to it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Keith. My buddy gave me an FT of unknown make, and it's a bit smaller than the Warlord one. Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteFine looking very early tanks, Dean.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Peter. I am quite pleased with these models from Warlord. Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteNice tanks! I didn't know that Warlord Games made WW1 tanks?
ReplyDeleteThanks, yes, I think they're great sculpts. As far as Warlord Games, so far only these tanks for WWI - however, I think they've unofficially touted the use of Bolt Action for this period. Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteDean,
ReplyDeleteGreat review. A few of those might find their way to my imaginary countries in Central Asia circa 1920.
Neil
Thanks, Neil. I think they would nicely compliment your armies. Warm regards, Dean
DeleteThey do look very good castings, looking forwards to seeing what you do with them.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Scrivs. Getting up the courage to attempt camo'ing the FT. Warm regards, Dean
DeleteThese first world war tanks are such interesting machines, aren't they? I had not realised how good they were until I got the 'bug' about a year ago! I especially like the Renaults. A step ahead in their day too.
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Thanks, James. Yes, the FT is considered the first "modern" tank. Lovely rivets! Kind regards, Dean
DeleteLovely looking armour, I knew you would be doing a captured MkIV as soon as I saw your first WW1 German!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks, Iain. Yes, besides the camo, love to see it with crosses - that and I still don't plan on building a British WW1 force. Warmest regards, Dean
