Just finished brushing on Minwax Tudor Satin stain over basic block painting. I used a gray primer which was left for some of the trousers. The jackets and other trousers were painted with Vallejo Field Grey. Painted camo on some of the helmets to liven up their otherwise drab appearance.
The stick grenades and e-tool/bayonet carriers are separate pieces on the sprues. The picture below shows them prior to the staining. I opted to leave off the gas masks cannisters as their straps were too thick. I may add the cannisters later if I use tape for straps. I did add binoculars to one of the officers after shaving down the straps and also cutting the straps off at the collar. The details and sculpting on these figures are really nice and they are very affordable. Hope you are doing well and I appreciate you stopping by to take a look.
Nice work! I especially like the camo work on the helmets.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Jonathan. Outlining the colors on the camo helps the look. Warmest regards, Dean

Thanks a lot, Stu. These "modern" drab uniforms are a nice change of pace. Warm regards, Dean
DeleteVery nice Dean and a change from ECW. Would be interested to see how their scale compares with other figures as I was thinking of getting a box to put in my Russian Civil war but the cop pleat one figures are very large /heroic in scale ?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Matt. I think they size up very well with Warlord - and possibly Perry as well. The sculpting and poses aren't exaggerated, IMO. Best, Dean
DeleteGreat stuff Dean! Those gas masks and camo helmets are tops!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Mike. Yes, that camo patter and masks are so iconic for WW1. Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteVery nice Boshes :) This is good to see WWI theme in plastic.
ReplyDeleteBut I prefer metal figures from Brigade Games and Great War.
Thanks, Vasiliy. Yes, those two make great figures - in fact, I'll likely get some of them, like MG teams, etc.
DeleteThese look great! I like the effect of the Miniwax Stain especially over the woollen uniforms as it gives a really good lowlight shading. I'm doing some catching up here so I'm looking forward to seeing your next post where you have them finished!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Jason
Looking good, just need more ECW! :-)
