Relic's Antiochus

Got this big guy yesterday - man he is huge compared to the other folks in his army; but...this will undoubtedly ID him as The Army General. Very well sculpted and what impressed me on first glance is the head armor and barding on the horse. If you're gonna have a Seleucid army, you gotta have this guy. I hope to start on this guy this weekend - updates will be posted.
The figure was well-packaged in two separate ziplock bags - one for the horse and one for multi-part Antiohcus. Mike's service at Relic is top-notch and highly recommended. I wish him and Relic the best.

  3. I know - thank goodness they're only toy soldiers :)! The Magister Militum & 1st Corps are on the smaller side of 25mm to be sure. I think the Relic guy would be a much better fit with Aventine, Vendel (now Molon Labe) & possibly Gripping Beast's Polemarch range. We'll see what kind of reaction he gets during the convention game I intend him to be used in. Thanks for the comments, Dean

  4. He is huge but he's a general/leader and not everybody is the same size but he's nicely sculpted.

  5. Totally agree the general can be the big Kahuna (bit of local lingo) physically. Seen it happen before and it does work on the TT does not look out of place at all.

Please post a pic of him as soon as you get a bit of wash or the like, pretty please, I cant quite make out the horse armour. It looks like it is going to be a stonking good mini.

  6. Thanks for the encouraging comments to use "Big Ant".

I'll post another pic with him primed - hopefully that'll bring out the sculpting better.

  7. Very nice mini, but he does look quite massive compared to the others. Perhaps base him separate on a round base away from the other mini's and it won't be as noticeable. Use a blank base with terrain on it to occupy his actual place in the army.

    Cheers

  8. I've got a couple of Relic's Roman Generals, and the mounted Celtic General, and they are a really good size match for my bigger 28's (Copplestone, Saleh, Aventine etc). Nice models!

I'll need to get an Antiochus, myself, sometime, he looks great. I look forward to seeing him painted!

I agree that it would be a great match with Aventines larger figures - and still growing range. Regards, Dean

  10. It fits in with the heroic scale which rounds in about the 30-32mm mark. Malifools, Darksword,Rackhams (rip) etc etc
