Perry French Infantry (Vistula Legion) - WIP+1

Managed to get most of the work on the Perry guys painted up as Vistula Legion. Just a few more things to paint, but I had to take a break due to my left shoulder blade and lower back giving me trouble.
The Warlord Games Vistula heads seem to fit the Perry figures quite nicely. Anyway, hope to get them done in a couple of days - after resting my back and shoulder. In fact, painting increases the pain, particularly in my left arm and shoulder blade area. Well, enough of my sniveling. Wishing you all the very best during these trying times!

  1. Hope you recover from your injuries soon. You continue cranking out beautiful figures, Dean. I look forward to seeing these completed once your back and shoulder heals.

    1. Thanks, Jonathan! I'm not exactly sure how I got the pain, but it has something do do with my left shoulder blade - then to compensate for that I started having lower back pain. Hopefully, it'll go away soon. Kindest regards, Dean

  2. Get well Dean as soon as possible! As far as I know Vistula Legion did not use different pompoms for the companies. They used the colors of the Duchy of Warsaw, i.e. black or white for fusiliers, red for grenadiers and yellow or green or yellow and green for voltigeurs.

    1. Ah, thanks for the info, Bartek! I'll repaint the fusiliers' pompoms white. I thought I saw something like that before. Kindest regards, Dean

    1. Thanks, Ray! I think when I paint for extended periods, my posture goes really awry and then I end up hurting my back. Best regards, Dean

  11. Wonderful job. I had bouts of both shoulder and back pain that limited my painting--understand what you're going through. Hope things resolve for you!

    1. Thanks, Ed! Yes, I think my posture and hand/arm positioning during painting sessions either caused some it, or at last aggravated it. Warmest regards, Dean

  14. These are stunning work Dean , the colours really pop out of the page. Hope the shoulder pain resolves itself quickly, it's a real bugger getting old isn't it?

    1. Thanks, Ross. Yes, the physical stuff reminds me that I'm a lot older than I think I am sometimes. In fact, I was using a handheld back massager (basically a ball on the end of a stick), and thought hey, this is the stuff grandpa and grandma used to use! Kindest regards, Dean

  16. I remember painting up a division worth of these in 15’s back in the day. I can’t remember the manufacturer’s name, minifigs or old glory, failing old age memory. Ahh well the point is I like these, I hope you can struggle through to see project to the end.

On another note, I bought my Wife a stand up sit down desk that sits on top of her regular desk. It’s a brilliant design and easy to swing up and down with a simple fluid motion. Sounds like you might need something like that to help out your ailments. I also have a friend that has a stand up desk he uses for painting and it helps him.

One thing I highly recommend if you go that route is buy one of those mats to stand on as it’s huge for comfort of feet and legs. I’ve played vassal games online and it helps me to stand up without leg pain.

    Cheers
    Kevin
