Someday this Henry VIII kit will get painted too. I used to have the Charles I kit, but either misplaced it or threw it away by mistake.
This site was created late in 2008, just a few years after first becoming involved in wargaming. As you can tell by the name, WAB was my introduction to this community. I appreciate the following and comments this blog receives, and give all thanks and credit to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. It may seem odd that this blog appears to focus on the folly of mankind's continuous warfare, but I believe I can still enjoy this hobby so long as I put Him first in all I do. Maranatha!

Airfix 1/12th Yeoman of the Guard
While waiting on some 3D printed "Gendarmes" and cannon, figured I'd paint up this old Airfix kit that was picked up off of ebay a few years ago. This kit was originally released in 1959, and molded in plastic with just a few parts, with the expected need to fill seam gaps. This particular kit is a re-release from the 70's. He was block painted - trying to stay within the lines of the embroidery, and then given the usual brush on stain of Minwax. I only hightlighted a few areas, like his face. He's big enough to use natural lighting for shading, etc.He joins the other Airfix 1/12th kits in the collection.
Well, so much for now. Thanks again for stopping by, and hope you all are doing well.

Really great model for a collection!
ReplyDeleteI have a original Bengal Lancer but 'painted' ( too big word!) 30 years ago...
Thanks, Michal! The Bengal Lancer kit is pretty good, especially for the time. Kind regards, Dean

DeleteWow, that is a REAL "blast from the past", Dean - I remember these large-scale models in the Airfix catalogue, circa 1970-75 - and they were a very dated kit even then! I have a feeling that the Bengal lancer was added a lot later - I think it was the same sculpt that was available in 54mm in the late 70's, just scaled up - that might explain why it's such a nice kit?
ReplyDeleteThanks and very sorry for the late response, Keith. Been concentrating on getting our house repaired. Still a ways to go but getting there. Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteA blast from the past indeed! I remember having this kit when I was a kid. And Richard the Lionheart (middle, second pic) as well.
