English Civil War Project Arrayed & Displayed

I didn't want to title this post as a project completed, as no project is really ever completed. However, I wanted to post pictures of it to date as I will take a break from it for awhile.

As noted in individual posts earlier, most of the figures are Warlord Games with a few Perry and TAG.

Close up of the horse, cannon and commands. The medium cavalry units units can be broken down into 8 figure units like the Cuirassiers.

And the foot. The Commanded Shotte units could be broken down in four units of 12 figures each and attached to horse units.

This should be my last "big" project for the year.  For the record, I just ordered a box of Wargames Atlantic WW1 German infantry as a change of pace. Thanks for stopping by and best wishes to you all this holiday season.

  1. This is a very impressive sight, Dean! Are the TAG ECW foot of the smaller variety like Foundry or large like Redoubt?

    1. Thanks, Jonathan. I only have the 3 horse holders from TAG, but they seem pretty close in size to Warlord and Perry. I don't have Redoubt or Foundry ECW, but I think they'd probably be sized between the two. Kindest regards, Dean

  8. A great looking ECW collection and I agree with Cyrus above, the speed with which you produce such top quality results is very impressive! WW1 Bosches will be quite a change of pace but I am sure they will be equally inspiring when completed.

    1. Thanks, Keith! Besides the use of Minwax stain - limiting clothing colors really sped up the project. In fact, the last two P&S regiments used the same spray paint for both coats and pants. Kindest regards, Dean

  13. Looks very fine, Dean - I make that 304 foot, 40 Horse plus guns and command. I'd aim for at least twice that many Foot and Horse in the long run... :-)

    1. Thanks, Peter! I think the foot are around 200 or so - the P&S regiments are 40 figs each: 16 Pike (incl command) and 2 12 man Shotte. That said, I will someday add more to the armies. Kindest regards, Dean

    1. Thank you so much for the kind words, Kevin. I have to say these figures (period clothing, minimal equipment) painted up quite easily - basic block painting and staining. And, keeping colors very basic also helped. That said, I am pleased to have them done. Kindest regards, Dean
