Not a gaming post, but somewhat of interest for Napoleonic fans and/or philatelists. Found these old stamps while rummaging through old stuff I collected as a kid.
On the actual gaming front, I am scheduled to host a Bolt Action Western Desert game this coming Friday. Until then, wishing you good gaming and painting.
EDIT: I found out (via Google) that these were issued to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Napoleon's birth. Still unsure of the connection to Liberia though. Oh, and I see they're valued as a set at a whopping $1.80 on ebay. :)
Interesting stamps Dean!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mike. I was pleasantly surprised to find them. I collected them over 40 years ago, and never saw them again until now. Warm regards, Dean
DeleteNice looking stamps and good luck with the bolt action game!

Thanks, Iain! Best, Dean
DeleteHow strange, why would Liberia honour Napoleon like this? Cool stamps though!
ReplyDeleteI was trying to figure out the connection too. Not sure why. Thanks for stopping by and for the nice comments. Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteGreat looking stamps!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Phil! I used to collect stamps decades ago - when I was a kid growing up in Hawaii. Having an indulgent mom didn't hurt. :) Warmest regards, Dean

Thanks, Kevin. I may hang on to them for another 40 years or so and see if it they can break $2.00. :) Warmest regards, Dean

ReplyDeleteThanks, Michal! Just a midweek diversion. Warm regards, Dean

ReplyDeleteThanks, Simon! Warm regards, Dean
DeleteI've always been impressed with the art of postage stamps--very easy to understand the popularity of collecting them. Must resist the temptation to dive into another hobby like this at my stage of life...toy soldiers keep me plenty busy.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ed. This was a small hobby I had back when it was somewhat more common; like coin collecting and even rock collecting. I'd be surprised if kids these days would even know about it. :) Kindest regards, Dean
