Hey Ho, Let's Go!

Actually, posting this to explain why I'll likely be "off the grid," at least for blogging, for a few weeks or so. We made a fairly quick decision to move - only about 30 minutes away from where we're at now, but a better location - both to live and and for me to commute to work. So, long story short, we already have the "ok" on the new place, but have a short period to get our current place on the market. Like the end of next week! We've been packing ever since Friday afternoon. Had to cancel out on the  Dragon Rampant game yesterday for obvious reasons. Stored most of the gaming figures in plastic drawers. We have quite a lot of "junk" having been in our current house for 14 years.
UPDATE - weapons are secured for travel.
Anyway, hope to stop by your blogs when I can, but most of my time will be continuing to "sterilize" our place of personal belongings. Hope to post again in the not too distant future! Best to you all until then!

  1. Best of luck with the move and the clearout that such moments bring :-)

It may be worth adding some styrene peanuts etc to you figure drawers. I didn't, I gave strict instructions for the draws to be carried upright and the result at the other end was still like a jumble of figures, some upside down! some with paint chipped. Yours are too nice to end up like that.

    1. Thanks for the tip, Norm. I may do that; I did it for my big resin figs. I plan to move some of our stuff ourselves - like these figs, so might be okay. Kind regards, Dean

  2. Trust your move won't disrupt your plans to host Blackpowder games at Enfilade.
Meanwhile, some of your finely painted Russians will be fighting in our General d'Armee game at Trumpeter Salute in Vancouver BC in April - you should come up. Go to trumpetersociety.com for more info.
Finally, I note the Ramones reference in your headline - always a good idea.

    1. Ah, Walt - wondered who Vlad really was! :) No, I still plan to host those games, we should be in the place before the con. Oooh, great to hear the Russians are hitting the field of battle. I never got to get them on the gaming table. At the time, some of the locals were thinking of using a version of WAB for Napoleonics. Warmest regards, Dean

P.S. They're piling in the backseat...They're generating steam heat! :)

    2. I'll be aiming to get into at least one of your games at the big E. I played Blackpowder quite a bit but switched to General d'Armee over a year ago and pulled my club along with me. Even if you don't play the rules, the videos on youtube.com by author David Brown are worth watching - if you can ever find the time.
      All the best!

    3. Walt, I'm decided to run only two games this year; Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. I saw Vic's earlier post about GM's not having tables to host from last year; and this will give me time to wander the "Great Hall" and see more games. Kind regards, Dean

    1. Thank you very much; I had thought I made my final move after moving here in 2005. Retired from the Army in 2008 and had moved about 15 times while in. Having flashbacks! :) Best regards, Dean

    1. Thanks! Yes, should be nice once we're moved. The big one is the sale/closing on our current place. It's a contingency sale, so this one needs to sell first! :) Best regards, Dean

  13. Good news on your new home, but I don't envy the move itself. I plan to stay where I am until I die. I couldn't imagine another move--but things do pile up once you settle.

    1. Just a few weeks ago I was in your camp, David. My wife always said she wanted to move to a smaller place and I would just think, "Are you kiddin? - especially after moving about 12 times while I was in the Army. But, recent increases in travel times to work - due to population growth here in Puyallup made me finally give in. We're about 75 percent done with packing and "sprucing up" the old crib for listing. In fact, the realtor wants to take photos this Thursday morning - she wants to have it on the market this weekend. Anyway once in the new place, God willing, I would love to have you over - maybe for another Black Powder game. I still need to play test my Enfilade game. Best regards, Dean

  16. Good luck on the move and relocation. Our last move was a mere 3 miles, and 30 years ago. My comment then was "That's it; I am dying here before I move again!" :-)
