Just Another Re-Basing Project - Missile Troops

Just tidying up some missile troops - all painted many moons ago, and formerly based on metal washers. Round plastic bases were used for the archers, and Litko 40mm squares for the handgunners. The archers are Crusader Normans, Warlord Games Romans, Curteys Medievals and Old Glory Cretans. The handgunners are also Old Glory - from their Hussite ranges.
They just seem more manageable now; for transporting, storage and gaming.

  1. Agree completely with your multi-figure basing and the results are outstanding! The Old Glory figures compare very well with the other manufacturers. I especially like what you have done to the Old Glory hand gunners. Nice!

    1. Thanks, Jonathan. The one thing that I dislike about WAB/WHFB is the individual casualty removal. Especially as I usually lose and have whole movement trays to refill after games. Guess I could still play those types of rules and use markers. Best, Dean

  2. Another excellent looking group. Your paint schemes come out looking like oil paintings.

  3. They'll be alot easier to shuffle around the table now. It looks far more visually appealing than individual bases.

    1. Thanks, James. I think so too; back when we used to play a lot of WAB it was fine, but nowadays I find moving individual figures in larger games tiresome. Warm regards, Dean

  6. That's a mighty fine unit, respondent with their new bases. I quite enjoy rebasing as it always seems to lift the figures again.

    1. Those are actually the ones I used to use with Napoleonic skirmishers - the bases are plasticard with magnetic tops; well, the magnetic side is now on the bottom - which will be useful during transport on metal trays. Glad I didn't throw them away. Dean

  8. Looking very good, Dean! Bigger bases are so much easier to store, and use.

  9. Dean, you have a deep and beautiful bench. Like Pompey, you just stomp your foot and new armies appear!

    1. Wasn't Pompey's problem that the armies failed to appear? ;-) Simon
