16th Dragoons - Elite Company

Here they are, ready for a Black Powder battlefield, either on their own as a Small unit or combined with a unit of Cuirassiers and Carabiniers to form a Large unit.
The main reason I painted them up as the 16th was due to the musician's fantastic uniform. He's illustrated on the cover of a uniform book I've had since a kid; later I found a Knotel print of the same figure.
The horses have been painted in the usual way - a basic block paint job, followed by a stain of Minwax Tudor Satin. It's really taken the anxiety of doing up cavalry units. Make sure you spray the stain after its dried with Testors Dulcote.

Next up will be those Front Rank Napoleonic characters - need a few more command figures for Black Powder. Later on I may also work on several Perry mounted Samurai - I've decided to go with a Late-Samurai army from the new Armies of Antiquity WAB supplement for the annual local convention Enfilade! in May.

Happy Friday the 13th!

  3. Thank you, Gentlemen. I'm happy they're finally painted - they sat in the queue for too long. Now they'll get a chance to draw blood in a Black Powder game in next week. Best, Dean

  4. That musician brings me over all nostalgic. I remember him well from "Fighting Men & their Uniforms" , which was bought for me at the age of 6. Back to the present though great job on those Dean.

  12. For some reason I've had a problem posting comments - hopefully this one will work! Brilliant job on the Elite Company - planning to do the other seven companies? That'd keep you busy until next year!

    Cheers,

  13. Thanks for all of the great comments.

Doc: I've had problems posting from my work computer in the past - not for all blogs, but some. As far as seven more companies of Dragoons - not in the near future, maybe someday, but I'd like to paint up some Chasseurs or Lancers first. Best, Dean
