The camera flash washes out the colors and details a bit, but wanted to show you this very nice Front Rank character figure. He's General Charles Lefebvre-Desnouettes (easier spelled than pronounced, I presume). He was captured by the British in the Peninsular, broke his parole while in England and took part in the 1812 Russian Campaign, 1813 campaigns, and commanded the Guard light cavalry at Waterloo. He survived all of this and yet drowned along with all hands while crossing the Atlantic in 1822 to return to France from his exile in America - a grim reminder of the hazards of the day. Interestingly enough, the ship he was on that sank was called the Albion.
He's in the uniform of the Chasseur a Cheval of the Imperial Guard.
The horse is done too now:

great work, I love the Front Rank stuff fits my style well
Peace James
They certainly are first-rate sculpts. They do look a bit chunky in photos, but in-person are very nice. Best, Dean
Absolutely beautiful work. I cannot wait to see him finished!
Very nice painting on the General Dean. Love the FR figs.
Looks superb, as do the dragoons you finished.
So he went down on l'Albion? Clearly breaking one's parole has its risks...
Really pretty, Dean!

Beautiful work, difficult to say more
First rate sculpt and first rate painting.
Cheers

Brilliant figure painted up very well indeed! I'll need this character for my own guard cavalry.
Camera flash or not, the figure looks beautiful!!
Thanks again all for the kind comments. I wanted to show how the horse looks before adding the rider to it. Overall the horse (& rider) fit in well alongside Perry and Victrix models, IMO. Best, Dean
