They are in full-dress uniforms with colpacks and uncovered shakos.
The green is a bit darker than the previous chasseur unit's. I mixed a bit more Vallejo Dark Prussian Blue to the Flat Green.
These guys will also be used in a small Black Power game in a few weeks at a game day. It'll be interesting to see how they perform as the last time I played Black Powder, I only had a few cavalry and didn't really focus on their use. I foresee them in action mostly against opposing cavalry. Charging infantry isn't really advisable for the rules. Even if they are able to charge into Disordered or Shaken Squares, they get no charge bonus, and the Square still gets the +3 bonus against cavalry combat result. Although, you never know with players.
Next up are the British Light Dragoons - hope to have them done for the game day as well. Well, so much for now and best wishes to you all on this fine Labor Day (holiday for us in the US).
Fantastic work Dean, I'm always amazed by the quality and speed with which you paint!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Mike. I have to say starting out with great sculpts, like these Perry's really makes it easier. Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteBeautiful Chasseurs, Dean! The Hussars get more press, but in many ways I prefer the simple elegance of the Chasseurs.
ReplyDeleteThe yellow faced 6e is my personal favorite, and retained the Dolman fairly late into their history, IIRC. It was also the first unit I ever painted, 50 years ago with Scruby figures, later replaced with a newer version using Sash and Saber figures.
Thanks again, Peter. I agree about the simple elegance of the Chasseurs, Imperial Guard notwithstanding. Kind regards, Dean
DeleteFirst nice job, second I’m sending over an acquaintance (a realation to the Al Capone family) to have a talk with you about swimming with the fishes if you don’t stop making the rest of us slow ass painters looking bad;)
ReplyDeleteCheers
Kevin
Lol! Thanks for the compliment and warning, Kevin! Much appreciated. Kindest regards, Dean

ReplyDeleteCheers, Ross
Thanks a lot for the nice comment, Ross. I find that if I don't push myself to complete projects, I end up not touching them for long periods. Kind regards, Dean
DeleteGreat job on these, you have to love Napoleonics 😀
ReplyDeleteThanks, Matt. Yes, it's never ending! :) Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteAn absolutely wonderful paint job, well done. The chasseurs were lovely looking regiments. Excellent job with the green.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Robbie. Yes, the dark green is a lovely base color. Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteTop notch job Dean...and wonderful colors!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Phil! Warm regards, Dean
DeleteMore gorgeous looking Chasseurs! I've started painting some Perry plastic dragoons I had primed, mainly because you keep painting elegant napoleonic cavalry!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you very much, Iain. The dragoons are a nice set - I wish I had more in the beautiful grecian style helmets. I ended up using the bearskins for the unit I have - freebies from a buddy who I painted up the main box for. Best, Dean
DeleteNice painting Dean! Clear and bright!
ReplyDeleteAll the little details are great!
Thank you so much for the compliments! Although the black undercoating requires more precise brushstrokes, it does save time on black-lining as leaving a little black between colors has a nice overall effect. Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteThanks, Jon!
ReplyDeleteGreat job!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your seal of approval! :) Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteWell Dean you have come back to the hobby with a vengeance! Well done!
