Victrix Armoured Samnites - WIP

Taking a little break from Napoleonics by working on a set of Victrix Armoured Samnites. Hoping to have them as part of an Epirote army using a local version of Lion Rampant called Elephants Rampant created by Pat L. (Socalwarhammer).
This set comes with four bodies and various arm combinations for either javelins or swords - as well as standards and musicians. There are also several head/helmet choices - with separate horsehair crests additions.

These are replacements for an earlier group of Samnites I sold off. They were older Redoubt figures - a bit smaller than these plastic Victrix ones, but nice figures in their own right.
So much for now. Wishing you all the best!

  1. Lovely work, Victrix is certainly starting to 'own' this era as far as detailed plastics go.

  3. Nice work, agree with Norm the Victrix figure range if they can keep in growing is taking over some periods. They are good figures, my only complaint is some of the spears are too fine and break too easily.🙁

    1. Thanks, Matt. True about spears and bayonets for that matter. One thing though, is they can be repaired quite easily with plastic cement/glue. Metals would require a lot more work. Best regards, Dean

  5. Beautiful.

Question - What are you using for primer on Victrix models?

    1. Thanks, Greg. I use plain white flat white spray from Walmart - however, the last time they were out of their .96 cent cans and ended up picking up the next cheapest - $3 can of Krylon Colormaster Flat White. Best, Dean

    1. Thanks, Ross. Yes, they have that cool Greco-Roman look; In fact, I read that they may have descended from Spartan expats who fled Sparta during the reign of Lycurgus in the 9th cent. BC. This set has 24 figs and only cost me $27 off of ebay - free shipping. A little over $1 a figure. Warm regards, Dean
