Ii Naomasa in 120mm - WIP +2

Worked a bit on the armor. After spray painting the armor red, a sepia wash was applied. After the wash dried, the lacing was painted blue. Finally the red was given a bit of highlighting. Still have to touch up some of the lacing, but the majority of the armor is done.
The Crusader Retiarii and Arena Officials ordered from Age of Glory arrived in the mail yesterday. Another order which took less than a week - so much stuff in the paint queue.

  2. Very very nice but it looks intricate and time consuming!

    1. Thanks, Rodger. Surprisingly, it wasn't too bad as the lacing was sculpted very nicely and raised enough for the brush to pick up. Best, Dean

  4. Smooth looking result on the red - what kind of air-brush are you using?

    1. Thanks, Soren. No airbrush - just a can of Testor's flat red. I have no experience with airbrushing - wish I did though. Regards, Dean

    1. Thanks - yes, I know how involved your are in the history. It's a kit I've had sitting in a box for many years which I'm looking forward to finally completing. Regards, Dean

  6. You've certainly been embarking on some epic scale stuff recently, certainly grander than the average wargamer churns out. Not sure where I'd begin on things this big!

    1. Thank you kindly, Scott. Hmm, as far as where to begin on these - it depends, most times I go for the face. Kind of the thing that gets the most attention. Then it's usually where I want to see the results - in this case, the armor and lacing. It's actually the same overall approach I have with 28mm stuff. Warm regards, Dean

  7. This piece is looking really sharp. Your blue on red detailing is very fine!

    1. Thanks, Jonathan. I plan to give some of the lacing a wash to get it a bit darker. Although I don't want it lost in the red. Best, Dean

  8. The Armour is very intricate and detailed - no vast expanses of shiny silver.
