Here is the Revell Pirate Ship painted with the main colors - black, red, gold and the natural wood decking. Still need to touch up here and there, but it is mostly done.
Added a few spare GW parts to "bling" it out. What made me want to get this kit was the skulls already included - one on the rear (taffrail?) and one on the front (figure head?).
I will be adding a few more GW spare parts like shields and a flag as well as more parts from the kit like the rigging that will go up to the hot air balloon. What will be used for the balloon itself is still up in the air. I'd like it to look something like an elongated football. Maybe with some da Vinci-like wings too.
Yep that is going to turn out very cool looking.
ReplyDeletewow that is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI definitely like the color scheme. It looks very menacing.
ReplyDeleteReally nice this boat .
ReplyDeleteGreetings .
This is a fantastic idea. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Very nice, Dean!
ReplyDeletewow look forward to seeing this finished you really have been bitten hard by the Warhammer bug :D
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the kind and encouraging words everyone.
ReplyDelete@ Simon Q: Yes, I've been smitten by the Empire - skulz included :)
Best, Dean
That's already looking very cool Dean!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
That's....fecking....impressive!
ReplyDeleteYou, my friend, have the fever...
ReplyDeletePerhaps a mache like covering over a balloon (or over shaped styrofoam), you could even make the panel sections (as in the balloon cloth) defined, etc. Thinking elmers or the like for the binder for the mache, two layers (rough and then panels), then a brush-on Matte coating to seal it up.
Just too cool...
ReplyDeleteI sure wish I lived close enough to see this and your other armies in person!
Thank you all again for your kind words - they motivate me to see this project to completion,
ReplyDeleteMichael: I saw some awesome scratch-built stuff on the web too - need to find one with a good tutorial.
Warm Regards, Dean
Wow, it's looking very cool already.
ReplyDeleteShe's a beaut! May the Emperor bless all who sail in her.
ReplyDelete"Maybe with some da Vinci-like wings too"
You might take some inspiration from the RoR Birdmen of Catrazza...
Coming along nicely there, Dean!
ReplyDeleteOf course, if it were a GW rather than a Revell model, it would have at least 30-odd more skulls studding the hull and gunwales...
; )
Thanks again for the great comments, Gentlemen.
ReplyDelete@Ev - you know it would have them skulz :)
Best, Dean
Superb, this is going to look fantastic when it is finished. You have moved quickly since the first post on this project. It looks like a good kit you have got there. Would have cost you $250 if it had a GW stamp on it!
ReplyDeleteLooks great Dean. I thought you were going to make an Empire Landship. But I guess you already have a Steamtank. Keep building...
ReplyDeleteLooks great, I somehow envisage it held up by and elongated balloon in a mesh bag and propelled by swan wings.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, is this an official GW WFB thing or something you've put together yourself? Looks pretty darn cool either way...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great comments, Gentlemen.
ReplyDelete@Pat - yes, I figures the Steam Tank takes care of the land part, so needed an airship to cover that - oh, oh, what about the rivers in The Empire?!
@Scott - it's a Revell 1/72nd plastic kit that's been around a while marketed differently - lately it's marketed as a "Glow in the Dark Pirate Ship - GITD paint not included" :)
Warm Regards, Dean
