Here's another old figure that I've had for decades that is in the process of being re-painted. It is a 54mm metal figure that I originally painted back in the 1970's as a youngster. Here it is with a wash of Minwax Tudor Satin stain.
He's a fusilier from the Royal Roussillon Regiment that was heavily involved in the French and Indian War, including the Siege of Fort Ticonderoga in 1758. The unit won honors at this battle; which the French call the Battle of Carillon.
Here's the figure with a block paint job prior to the wash.
I'm now thinking of getting some excellently sculpted figures from 28mm Conquest Miniatures.
Maranatha!
great work, I can highly recommend the conquest figures great details and crisp sculpts
ReplyDeleteThanks, James. Not sure if I'll get around to gaming them, but I would like a few of their figures to paint up - particularly the British Grenadiers. Best, Dean
ReplyDeleteYou can so much more detail on a 54mm figure, damn nice Dean.
ReplyDeleteA great looking figure, I've got a few 54mm to paint trouble is they're Dr Who figures!!!!
ReplyDeleteAppreciate the great comments, Fran and Ray.
ReplyDeleteRay - Dr. Who figs in 54mm? Sounds like a great scale to game them in.
Warm Regards, Dean
Nice work Dean! Long, long time since I painted a 54mm fig!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rodger. Same here - these are just the few I've had with me all these years. Recently decided to paint them over - waste not, want not :) Best, Dean
ReplyDeleteThat's a great old I&R figure. It's on my shelf as well.
ReplyDeleteLove doing the larger figures - you can really go to town on them with the detail. This guy is going to fantastic.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Doc
Thanks, Scott and Doc.
ReplyDeleteIt's been interesting re-painting these larger scaled figures using my current 28mm painting techniques - such as using the "dip" - and strong highlighting. In the days past, I used to be a lot more reserved with highlighting.
Warm Regards, Dean
I never painted 54mm figure, and I am really impressed by the details...great work Dean!
