Holiday Projects

Wishing you all a Happy Turkey Day! (Thanksgiving here in the US). Starting on a few projects during the holidays. Picked up an old Aurora Silver Knight from ebay, and also a box of Wargames Atlantic AWI Grenadiers. I soaked the knight figure overnight in brake fluid to loosen the parts, but looks like the original owner used something like epoxy to glue the parts together. Managed to get most of the stuff apart. I mainly wanted to repostion the arms a bit to hold the sword better.

As for the Wargames Atlantic figures - they are very nice. They come on 6 identical sprues, each with 5 individual figures with separate arms and heads. The sculpting is excellent with good details throughout.

Comparison with Perry AWI British Infantry figures - left to right: WA, Perry, WA, Perry (with a WA head).
On the gaming front, I've committed to host my Lion Gate of Mycenae game using One-Hour Ancient & Medieval Skirmish rules next Saturday. Until next time, wishing you all the best!

    1. Thanks, Matt! I actually had a few figures from Perry plastic sets, but traded them to get back my old F&IW figures :) Lol! Kindest regards, Dean

    1. Thanks a lot, Ray! Yes, these are very nice - I may get their Colonials set, but would rather have uniformed troops. Warmest regards, Dean

  5. Wargames Atlantic are very nice figures but have a couple of drawbacks from my perspective Dean - they have a lot of separate parts a la Victrix (I prefer the ease of assembling Perry or Warlord plastics) and they seem significantly more expensive than Perry or Warlord.
Their ranges are a bit idiosyncratic too, nothing ever seems to get "finished" before they move on to another period? All that aside, I am sure they will look magnificent once you are finished with them!

    1. Thanks, Keith. I agree about multi-parts being a hassle putting together sometimes, but these are fairly minimal - arms, heads, and backpacks. I also agree about their ranges running dry before completion. I picked up this box for under $30 USD (free shipping), so about a $1 a figure. Not too bad. Kindest regards, Dean

  6. Nice figures that work well with the Perry figures, I bought loads of their Prussian reserve infantry which I find compatable with Perry and Victrix and all you have to do to assemble them is stick a head and occasionally a rolled up blanket, which is a bonus!
    Best Iain
