Kit-bashing Perry Light Cav 1450-1500 figs with some Wargames Atlantic Landsknecht and Conquistador parts. Plan to have these as a unit of mounted crossbows belonging to Giovanni de Medici's Black Band. They're included in the Battle of Bicocca scenario in the Pike & Shotte supplement.
Firing from the saddle is depicted in period illustrations - so it must've happened!
Just a quick update to show you all what I'm working on. Wishing you all the best!
Great idea. One of the nice things about plastics, however I still prefer metal.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for the kind words. You're in good company. Most of the folks I know also prefer metal figures. In fact, a lot of admit they hate multi-part plastics 😀 Warm regards, Dean
DeleteI was going to say more or less the same as rhingley - although not sure I necessarily prefer metal figures any longer - I am equally happy with them, plastic or 3d resin prints, to be honest!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your thoughtful comments again, Keith. Yes, I'm okay with metals - particularly command figs, but rank and file plastics or resins are preferable mainly for the price per pound, and also for storage and transport. Kind regards, Dean
DeleteAwesome kit bashing Dean!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michal! The Wargames Atlantic arms fit perfectly on the Perrys. Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteThey should look great with a lick or two of paint!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ray! I'm planning on painting them in a fairly simple red/black scheme. Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteNice work Dean and they seem to fit together pretty well, I did by some WA afghans but found the size a bit random from other figures perhaps they have learnt with latter ranges
ReplyDeleteThanks, Matt. The Wargames Atlantic arms matched up well with the Perry bodies. I was pleasantly surprised by this! Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteNeat work. Looking forward to seeing the finished painted models.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Richard! Kind regards, Dean
DeleteAlways need mounted crossbow for the Great Italian Wars!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jonathan! Yes, the twilight of the crossbow! Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteNice conversion work, I've got some Perry light horsemen I'm converting with Wargames Atlantic conquistadors to Spanish jinets, right shields and the like!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks a lot, Iain! Happy to use the left over parts from the other sets. Kindest regards, Dean
