Minwax stain over basic block painting. Left the linothorax plain white and allowed the stain to seep into the details. After drying and spraying with matte, I'll touch up the armor with white to make the areas stand out better. Otherwise, very basic painting with a little variation of color to the horse hair crests.
These will sit around until the VVV lambda shield decals arrive. I'll likely make more movement trays once my order for more plasticard arrives from Litko.Prior to the stain |
Great progress Dean!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michal! Kind regards, Dean
DeleteYour production line is inspirational. Glad you got your shot.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. I actually had a chance to get the shot a month or so ago through work, but held off at that time. Figured it's time to do it and get with the herd. :) Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteThese will look great when done Dean. Hope all goes well with your shots!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Simon! To be honest, I had stopped getting annual flu shots after I got out of the Army (2008) - up to then I was getting mandatory vaccines for everything you could think of. Figured this time it was a little different. Warmest regards, Dean
Delete40 and over...dang you getting old. :) Nice minis.
ReplyDeleteLol! I'm actually hitting 60 end of this year! :) Even I can't believe it sometimes. Thanks again for stopping by and the kind words. Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteThe Spartan's look great Dean, been tempted a few times however I just can't justify a second Spartan army in 28mm as well as one in 15mm.
ReplyDeleteHope the vaccine goes well.
Cheers, Ross
Thanks, Ross. Yes, one army of each is enough :) Best regards, Dean
DeleteGreat looking figures Dean!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ray! Yes, getting there - half the battle is starting with great sculpts. Warm regards, Dean
DeleteAnother great batch of figures Dean
ReplyDeleteThanks, Keith! Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteGreat progress Dean !
ReplyDeleteI always admire people who can paint so many miniatures in one go. I know I can't.
Greetings
Thank you very much, Mario. I like using a production line, very basic block painting method for rank and file figures. Not much detail to fuss with. Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteI simply cannot believe the number of figures you tackle in one batch. Astounding. Hope Shot #2 goes well for you. Both my wife and I became sick after the second dose.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jonathan! Yes, so far only a little aching in the arm for the first shot. I heard the second one could have a little more side-effects for some. That said, I'm looking forward to getting the booster and maybe getting in some face to face gaming again. Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteComing along nicely!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nick. Finished highlighting the figures - now awaiting the arrival of the Lambda decals for the shields. Kind regards, Dean
DeleteGreat looking Spartans! Smashing through another project, nice!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks, Iain! Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteAwesome news on vaccination front. I get my second in ten days, and ten days after that I am doing a face to face with a friend who also received his. I don't know if I will remember how to act in a face to face game, but I am looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteYour loaded for bear with all the minis you have painted, you will not lack in choices for what to play for sure!
Cheers
Kevin
Thanks, Kevin! Our annual big convention is usually held on Memorial Day weekend - we cancelled last year's and also this year's; and tentatively have it scheduled for Labor Day weekend later this year. I'm thinking this will likely be a go. It may not have as many attendees - but that's okay too. Probably require masks at the tables, which is good too. Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteMore terrific Spartans, Dean!
ReplyDeleteNice to hear you have had your vaccination ... where I am at, other than front liners (which is as it should be), politicians (sigh) and VVIPs (further sighing) ... us regular folk are left waiting for even an appointment to be set.
