Retinue for Lion Rampant

Just got my copy of the rules today. I've only leafed through it briefly, but I must say I am very impressed. There is a lot of eye-candy - of figures, rules schematics and artwork from Ospreys. Oh, and the $14.00 USD price cannot be beat.
In anticipation of the rules, I cobbled together a retinue using existing figures from my Early-HRE WAB army. The retinue pictured is composed of two units of mounted men-at-arms, two  units of foot serjeants, and a unit each of archers and crossbowmen.
The funny thing is a bunch of us are meeting tomorrow to play SAGA. I don't think these two rules will conflict with gaming, but more likely compliment each other. Anyway, I can't wait to get started playing Lion Rampant.

  2. Beautiful collection you've got there Dean! I've only heard words of praise from the people who tried the LR rules. Michael and Jonas from our local gaming club here in Stockholm even participated in developing them, so it shall be interesting to hear your assessment after a game!

  7. Superb - as always with your stuff

How do you like the rules? - my uninformed view is that they seem to fit in-between an abstract skirmish game like saga and a more traditional big battle set like WAB or Hail Caesar.

    1. I hope to get my first game in soon; that said, I have SAGA today and WAB next week! One of the locals tried out a game already, said he liked it a lot and it reminded him of Chainmail - which I've never tried. Dean

  8. The variety in the shield heraldry really make these fellas pop on the table, doesn't it?

    Nice!

  11. Very nice layout and miniatures. I'm interested in Lion Rampant- we've some small numbers of Wars of the Roses miniature in our collections, and these rules could do the trick.

One of the first rule sets I ever played was Chainmail, and I had loads of fun with it. If these rules have the same "feel", all the better.
