Hope you all had a good Christmas. In between several meals of cheer - managed to get the ECW Pike & Shotte block painting done and staining with Minwax Tudor Satin. After a coat of Krylon clear matte, only the faces will get a some attention - a wash of Vallejo Flesh Wash. Waiting on an order from Litko to base them.
Wishing you all the best during the closing of 2021 - we're actually getting snow here in Western Washington, so white post-Christmas.

DeleteHi Dean, they look really impressive. When you put the colour primer down, do you paint black or grey onto any parts as prep before block painting? for example say the green unit, would you put another colour down onto the flesh areas before laying the actual flesh colour in?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment and interest, Norm. I painted the flesh directly onto the basecoat colors - I later give the flesh a wash to soften the tone. In the past I would use black to undercoat areas of metallics; but in this case, I just went ahead and painted the metallic colors over the colored spray paint. It took well enough - and I later give those areas a black ink wash and highlight with the metallic color so saved a step. The muskets were painted brown all over and then a strip of gun metal silver painted for the barrel and firing mechanism. Best regards, Dean
DeleteThanks Dean, I am presently using white for primer, but it makes problems for metallic armour … so I put Black Templar Contrast paint from Games Workshop down onto the white and then apply metallic. It does a good job for chainmail.
