Just finished setting up the table for the game on Friday - got back from a late dental appointment - I now have another implant/crown! Anyway, here're the photos of the tentative starting positions of the units. I may allow the players to reposition some of their units, particularly the artillery pieces.
Imperialist forces on the left behind defensive positions; French forces on the right; Toy Poodle in the center (the wife wanted her in the picture). The Imperialists' baggage camp - a victory condition for the French if captured.French forces consisting of Swiss mercenary pike blocks in the center, Venetian allies on their right flank, and cavalry on the left flank - including gendarmes and mounted crossbows.Imperialist forces with Spanish heavy and light cavalry on their right flank, Spanish colunela to the left, and landsknecht pikes on their left flank. He's also bring a few more mounted commanders. I really wanted to get a few from Steel Fist Miniatures, but procratinated.Landsknechts on loan from Emperor Charles V on the left flank, anchored next to the Bicocca manor. This site was created late in 2008, just a few years after first becoming involved in wargaming. As you can tell by the name, WAB was my introduction to this community. I appreciate the following and comments this blog receives, and give all thanks and credit to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. It may seem odd that this blog appears to focus on the folly of mankind's continuous warfare, but I believe I can still enjoy this hobby so long as I put Him first in all I do. Maranatha!
From a fellow multi crown person, nice figures! The game certainly has a wonderful look to it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joe! A good set of chompers makes a happy (pain free) gamer! Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteYour poodle is cute on the table, and I hope relaxed.
ReplyDeleteYes, she's used to being photographed - for our purposes :) Lol!
DeleteOh, looking awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michal! Looking forward to seeing how it plays out. Warm regards, Dean
DeleteStunningly colourful armies Dean.....they look pretty colonel, but can they fight?! 😀
ReplyDeleteThanks, Keith! Yes, they better not be parade ground warriors! Lol! Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteAn impressive array Dean: the only question that remains is, on the day of battle, whose side would the poodle be on?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Andrew! Well, seeing how poodles are associated with the French - possibly with them :) Warm regards, Dean
DeleteQuite a show, Dean. Looking forward to the report.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Richard! Hopefully, it'll play out well - always interesting to see how players utilize their forces. Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteGreat looking layout, Dean! Like Richard, I am very interested in seeing this battle refought. Your use of the assorted plundering and drunken figures is good choice for a camp/baggage focal point. I now have a use for these figures!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jonathan! Yes, I was fortunate to have those camp figures - as I didn't have any appropriate looking tents (would've been nice to include some of those). Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteNice work Dean all those pikemen !
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Matt! Glad to finally get them on the table. Warm regards, Dean
DeleteThat's an impressive lay out there Dean and will for sure give a good game on the visuals alone!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great comment, Christopher! Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteSplendid looking line up for the battle with a very calm looking dog!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
