Here are the two bags of Old Glory Swiss Pikeman - one each armored and unarmored. As noted in the previous post, the armored bag was missing 5 figures; but the unarmored on had 31.
Old Glory got the positioning of the pikes just right, IMO - not level or upright. The flags for the Uri and Bern Cantons came with the Perry Mercenaries set.The 56 figures worked out to 14 40mm square bases with 4-figures each. An odd number for grouping into 2 units.
The were painted in four basic colors: red, blue, green, and yellow. Added small white crosses to their clothing to ensure they were cleary identified as Swiss.Glad to have these guys done, and the next project with be the 3D resin print "Empire" knight. Thanks for stopping by, and wishing you all the best.
what can we followers say about your Old Glory Italian Wars Swiss Pikemen? I say Awesome! and you painted the figures within a week? Amazing and marvelous work Dean!
ReplyDeletewell done Sir!
Thanks, Phil! Keeping the colors scheme to a minimum, and staining with Minwax assisted greatly. Kindest regards, Dean

DeleteSplendid work on these old glory figures, I agree the pose is just right, I just didn't like drilling out their hands!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks, Iain. Yes, it took a bit to drill out the hands; thankfully, I have a faux Dremel tool which sped up the process. Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteGreat looking unit Dean 👍
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Matt. Kindest regards, Dean
DeleteLooking good Dean. I recently finished painting my last pile of Landsknecht pike which inspired me to finish my old Empire army as well. The re-release of WFB has created a flood of spare bitz to help round out those old collections. I found that 3d printers are also great for making bases and movement trays.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Jake! I wish the Warlord Games Landsknecht pikemen were holding their pikes at a similar position like these. The 6th Ed. Empire foot guys actually match up well with these Old Glory figures. Sort of bulky. Warmest regards, Dean
DeleteI was fortunate enough to get a great deal on my metal Wargames Foundry landskencht years ago. They match up well with my 3rd/4th edition Empire army. (I have yet to find an equal to my favorite Perry sculpts) I did pick up a box of Warlord Zweihanders which also seem to fit in well.
DeleteAnyway, looking to see more of your collection unfold. Jake
I saw some of the metal Landsknechts pikemen (formerly Pro Gloria) with this good pose on the Warlord Games site - they look good, but about the same price as Foundry ones.
