Perry European Mercenaries Completed & Based

Here are the figures from the plastic Perry European Mercenaries box. There are units of crossbowmen, handgunners, billmen and pikemen. They are painted up as Swiss or German mercenaries, Lancanstrians, Yorkists and Stanleys.
I will need to see how they form up on the table top to see if I need to add more units to each faction.
A modified and simplified version of Hail Caesar will be used. Most foot units will be two stands of three figures each. This size seems to work well for melee, as well as shooting.
The command stands for the divisions are up next. I still need to find some nice banners and flags.

  1. 10 out 10 marks for your stunning work Dean! marvelous. The Pikemen look great, plus your light infantry support units also excellent basing!

what do you think of Perry miniatures are they ok or are they a pain in the backside to put the plastic figures together? I'm thinking of getting a few boxes.

    1. Thanks, Phil! You are too kind. As far as the Perry sets - I highly recommend them - I would not hesitate to get more sets if I need to. The two sets have interchangeable arms/heads and weapons. I'm sure you'll be pleased with them. Best, Dean

  2. Great painting Dean! Wouldn't the pike be in deeper and denser formations?

    1. Thanks. Yes they would indeed look proper in dense formations; however, I am trying to keep the numbers of figures to a minimum. The units are more representational for game play than for an actual historic formation/size. Best, Dean

  9. Very nice indeed. I like the small numbers of figures per base, it suits and looks very good indeed. Great painting all round.

  10. Lovely looking units and a very nice choice of colours. I don't think you can beat medieval figures for variety in colour and form.

    1. Thanks, Christopher. I just need the flags/banners. The one that came with the box I got is for Wakefield. I understand the flags are randomly supplied. Best, Dean

  13. Howzit Dean
These are exceptional. I was wondering what a box of Perry's mercs done up (by a pro!) would look like! I'm now inspired to get one for my Impetus Landsknecht army.

BTW great job on your WSS article too - you're now a published author eh? Is there no end to this man's talent? :-)

    Well done on all fronts.

    1. Aloha, Doc! LOL! I haven't seen the mag article yet. After I submitted the draft, I never heard back from Guy. Next thing I check the WSS website last week and saw my article listed :)! Anyway, yes, I can assure you the Perry Merc (or WotR Inf) plastics will be quite useful for Landsknecht If you have any leftover arms or heads from WHFB Empire troops even more so! Best, Dean
