This site was created late in 2008, just a few years after first becoming involved in wargaming. As you can tell by the name, WAB was my introduction to this community. I appreciate the following and comments this blog receives, and give all thanks and credit to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. It may seem odd that this blog appears to focus on the folly of mankind's continuous warfare, but I believe I can still enjoy this hobby so long as I put Him first in all I do. Maranatha!

Front Rank General Lefebvre-Desnouettes - WIP
The camera flash washes out the colors and details a bit, but wanted to show you this very nice Front Rank character figure. He's General Charles Lefebvre-Desnouettes (easier spelled than pronounced, I presume). He was captured by the British in the Peninsular, broke his parole while in England and took part in the 1812 Russian Campaign, 1813 campaigns, and commanded the Guard light cavalry at Waterloo. He survived all of this and yet drowned along with all hands while crossing the Atlantic in 1822 to return to France from his exile in America - a grim reminder of the hazards of the day. Interestingly enough, the ship he was on that sank was called the Albion.
He's in the uniform of the Chasseur a Cheval of the Imperial Guard.

They certainly are first-rate sculpts. They do look a bit chunky in photos, but in-person are very nice. Best, Dean
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful work. I cannot wait to see him finished!
ReplyDeleteVery nice painting on the General Dean. Love the FR figs.
ReplyDeleteLooks superb, as do the dragoons you finished.
ReplyDeleteSo he went down on l'Albion? Clearly breaking one's parole has its risks...
Really pretty, Dean!

Brilliant figure painted up very well indeed! I'll need this character for my own guard cavalry.
ReplyDeleteCamera flash or not, the figure looks beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThanks again all for the kind comments. I wanted to show how the horse looks before adding the rider to it. Overall the horse (& rider) fit in well alongside Perry and Victrix models, IMO. Best, Dean
